The Role

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time position within our Engineering Educational Delivery team at TAFE Queensland SkillsTech at our Acacia Ridge campus.

As a TAFE Teacher in Engineering, you will play a vital role in shaping the careers of the next generation by sharing your expertise and industry experience with students across classroom and practical learning environments.

This position reports directly to the relevant Business Manager and Educational Team Leader.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must possess relevant industry qualifications. MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker) or equivalent and the following:

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

Additionally, to become a TAFE Queensland teacher you must hold, or be willing to obtain, a qualification in adult education. Primarily this qualification is TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent.

Please note applicants need not necessarily possess teaching experience, as the right candidate may be trained and developed through coaching, mentoring and partnering. Importance is placed on possession of the appropriate qualifications, industry experience and the right attitude. Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Highly Desirable

Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • Certificate IV in Engineering or demonstrated higher-level trade capability
  • High level of digital literacy skills
  • Previous training/teaching experience

Trade experience in.

  • Welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and fabrication techniques
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and fabrication plans
  • Structural steel, plate work, and general fabrication
  • Use of fabrication equipment (press brake, guillotine, rollers, etc.)
  • Workshop safety practices and quality standards
